Simple Pleasures

A quiet week of simple pleasures comes to an end--here's hoping the simple pleasures are not ending. Gentle, and not so gently rainfall has contributed to the green grass and acres of golden dandelions that spot the Krambeck acreage. Mike and Matthew spent time playing catch in the evenings, I moved forward with cleaning a few more flower beds and the red bud tree is in its full glory.

I am grateful for three healthy kids, family time and that my mother celebrated another birthday on April 22nd.

Each day is a blessing....one that I cherish and need to give thanks for more often. Life is short, we are all mortal and we need to make each day count.

Kids......

As a parent of three children at various stages of growing up....one 26......one 22.......one 12........ At each stage of their "growing up" years we always looked to when it would get easier.

When we were getting up with them during the night it was, "this is going to get easier when they sleep through the night."

When they were sleeping through the night it was, "this is going to get easier when they can get up and get themselves around in the morning."

When they were in middle school and we were making multiple trips to get them to school, practices, dance class, baseball, etc. it was "when they can start driving themselves around it will get easier."

When they were old enough to drive it was, "when are they going to get home" as you stay up remembering the last time that you were up in the wee hours feeding them and thinking it would be easier when they were older.

When they are old enough to leave home, you worry about their safety, their employment, their travel, their decisions, their consequences, and the list goes on.

Being a parent brings with it sleepless nights, worries and joy...... at some point one must let go and just embrace the joy. Being a parent is a work in progress...kind of like being a kid.
